    Soft Credit Pull

A credit check that does not affect your credit score — used for pre-qualification.

A soft credit pull (also 'soft inquiry') is a credit check that does not affect your FICO or VantageScore. Lenders use soft pulls to pre-qualify you and show estimated rates before you formally apply.

    When soft pulls happen

Pre-qualification on rate-comparison sites, your own free credit-score checks (Credit Karma, Experian, AnnualCreditReport), pre-approved credit-card offers in the mail, and most employer or landlord background checks all use soft pulls. Kreditify only triggers soft pulls during comparison.

    What lenders see

A soft pull returns a snapshot of your credit profile — score, open accounts, payment history — but it is invisible to other lenders looking at your report. Only you see soft inquiries on your own report.
